Fishing?

Recently Charles got to go Sturgeon fishing with a buddy from work, and though they call it fishing, I wonder?  

Is it really fishing when the bait you use is stinky squid coated in WD-40 and then they look like this when you catch them?

No matter what you call the process, the catching is the fun part!

 

And the eating is even better!

Snow Day!

February 24th:

We had almost 2" of snow!

Which the boys rolled up into big snowballs

 and built a ski run for their playmobil and lego guys.

I wish I had had toys like this when I was a kid!

Aren't they cute when they get along?

This was the first round of snow we had recently.  Then it rained, and rained harder, and then turned to snow!  

February 28th:

When round two was all done, we had almost 2 inches of standing water masquerading as snow!  Which is the stuff that caused us to find out that our 4-wheel drive was not engaging on the Suburban.  That made things a bit of a 'hoot' as we attempted to get Nathanael to guitar practice (up the hill with almost 7 inches of mostly real snow - not so wet there)!  Anyway, the Lord provided an adventure that ended happily (we didn't end up way down over the bank in the Chiropractor's yard) with us getting home and appreciating the warm house and no guitar lessons.  And later when I took the Suburban to the dealership to have them check it out to see why the 4-wheel drive didn't engage, it was working by then.  

Of course it was!

Guess who turned 11?

Yep, that's right!  Mikael turned 11 on February 18th!

 Yes, I made the cake but it was still edible!

Expectantly waiting to open his package!

Playmobil!  Ok, so he probably is a little old for this, but he absolutely loves it and plays with it constantly during his free-time.  My consolation is that he's at least trying to farm like he would in real life, and even have a family that he has to provide for.  It's good clean fun (except when he's cleaning manure out of the corral!).

Here he and Nathanael are at the pizza barn where Mikael chose to go for his birthday dinner.  That was good because I was completely worn out that night - surgery was still sapping my strength!

 

We're so proud of both our boys, how they have a love and compassion for others,
(not always each other, but we're working on that)
and that the Lord really is working in their lives,
redeeming the poor training we gave them in their formative years!
